Secret Base

Summer break has officially started and they came up with an idea of building a secret base, like a hole in the wall!? I gave them an alternative to create a space in the existing room instead of breaking the wall through😂 They accepted the option and drafted a floorplan. We got all we needed on a budget in IKEA.

We started with a budget divider for less than $100 USD, which suits it's purpose as a structure base for being added with faux leaves later.

Metal hooks might be a concern for accidents if kids move the divider a lot. I decided to sew them on just by using cotton threads.

It’s barely visible and nicely blended in.

I like the airy looking!

The extra goes to the wall with 3M command velcro strips. Their secret base obviously is a forest-themed (+ a tree log, acorns & porcupines). Two hexagonal storage bins work as small tables by their request. A string of a bamboo hanging lights creates some lighting and atmosphere.

The top-left square is their secret base. With the spatial drawing (the floorplan), they get an idea of how much space they can use.
