Big Picture

Driven by a deep pride in my heritage, I serve as a cultural ambassador dedicated to sharing the story of my home, Taiwan. My mission is to foster a community where Taiwan’s identity as a nation is recognized and celebrated with clarity and respect.

Through inclusive leadership, I create spaces where students and parents can engage with Taiwanese culture, ensuring that our global community understands and honors Taiwan’s unique place in the world.

Event Planning

US-Taiwanese community

The Challenge: To overcome budget and logistical constraints, I mobilized the US-Taiwanese community to source authentic materials. This partnership allowed me to lead an inclusive, high-impact showcase that successfully affirmed Taiwan’s identity for our students and parents.

Focus & Impact

The Action: To make the most of limited space, I curated high-impact, recognizable facts that showcased Taiwan’s unique identity. I designed the display to be inclusive and accessible, using vibrant storytelling to ensure parents and students walked away with a clear, unquestionable understanding of my home country.

Ambassador

The Result: I turned Taiwan’s symbols into popular takeaways by distributing custom stickers. This turned every student into a 'mini-ambassador,' making Taiwan’s identity a visible and celebrated part of the school. By using a medium kids love, I ensured that my home country was recognized and remembered long after the event ended.

The "Show, Don't Tell"

Bringing Taiwan to life: Here, I am bridging the gap between culture and play. By sharing fun facts with parents and guiding students through a hands-on 'Year of the Dragon' dance, I transformed a small booth into an immersive experience. This interactive approach made Taiwan’s identity tangible and unforgettable for the next generation.

Testimonials and Feedback

The project’s impact was best seen in the community’s response. Parents praised the poster design for its educational clarity, while students were drawn in by the interactive games and visuals. Most notably, a teacher chose our event photo for the school's official volunteer flyer—cementing the project as a successful example of how to lead with inclusivity and cultural pride.

Personal Reflection

As a parent, my goal was to ensure my children feel seen and proud of their heritage within their school community. Leading this project allowed me to show, rather than just tell, the beauty of Taiwan. I realized that by creating a fun, inclusive space for other families, I wasn't just sharing facts—I was building a community where my children’s other home country is recognized and respected without confusion. This experience deepened my commitment to being an active, cultural bridge for our school.

This project served as a successful pilot for my transition into the design field. I treated the school booth as a user-centered design challenge: how to communicate a complex national identity (Taiwan) within a high-traffic, limited-space environment. By managing everything from the initial mood board and community outreach to the final print production of stickers and posters, I proved that I can lead a project through the entire design lifecycle. Seeing my work selected by faculty as a school-wide standard confirmed my ability to create visuals that don't just look good, but solve problems.
